Transmitting the Force of Presence
Origin+Omega offers courses, retreats and workshops where the co-creation of Wisdom liturgy invites the engagement of inner-work on behalf of the whole.
Our Approach
In all of our offerings we create laboratories of attention and surrender based practice to help orient our lives in the grounded aliveness of Presence itself.
We leverage the three-fold approach of:
~Wielding the transmission of dynamic teaching rooted in inner and contemplative spiritual traditions, as well as, transformational psychology.
~Creating powerful holding environments for shared inquiry and dialogue to ground ourselves in and verify the truth through our own subjective experience.
~Utilizing frameworks that help uncover our habitual patterns of perception, in order to face reality directly, learning to offer compassionate service on behalf of the whole.
“Our vocation as human beings is to be transmitters of divine life. Transmission is not just the communicating of a teaching or message, but the communication of life in its evolving sense of opening more and more to the reception of the Ultimate Reality.”
Origin+Omega is led by Jonathan L. Steele, M.A. and Daniel Marx, J.D.
Jonathan is a retreat leader, teacher, and spiritual director whose work has been steeped in the Christian Wisdom tradition, Contemplative Christianity and the teachings of the 4th Way, including the transmission behind the sacred symbol of the Enneagram. He is a committed partner and soccer dad who also accompanies families, caregivers and patients in the context of hospice.
“Jonathan tracks Wisdom back to its Living Source-weaving the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff, the Christian Apophatic tradition and evolutionary theology to hold a whole and coherent cosmogonic vision. He has ways of seeing it and saying it that come from the gift of a pellucid heart not arising in this world.”
Daniel is a householder and wisdom student who drinks from the wellsprings of the Christian Wisdom Tradition. From a young age he was drawn to working with the 12 steps as a path to awakening and service. He is active in Cynthia Bourgeault’s wisdom network and seeks to work closely in its lineage with Jesus, St. Benedict, Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī and G.I. Gurdjieff. He also has deep experiential reverence for the indigenous spiritual traditions of the Americas and the great spiritual heritage of Africa, specifically in its influence on the Abrahamic traditions and Christianity itself. He is married with three sons and in his spare time practices law, enjoys reggae music, and plays a modern day version of ancient hoop and ball games.
“Isn’t that the ultimate Wisdom liturgy… a recreation or co-creation of the alchemical process from formless, to form, to the dynamism between, from Eros, to suffering, to surrender, to agape?”
